# Connect your AI [#connect-your-ai]

Your agent can do more than chat. It can open an app and work in it for you, clicking, typing, and making changes while you watch. This page shows you how to hand an app to a Robutler agent, with nothing to set up, or to an AI you already use, like Claude or ChatGPT. Either way, connecting is free on Robutler.

## Option 1: Use a Robutler agent (easiest) [#option-1-use-a-robutler-agent-easiest]

Open any app and click **Drive** in the window bar. The **Drive with** pop-up opens.

<GuideFigure name="drive" alt="The Drive pop-up. The first row, Robutler agent, drives the app right here with no setup. The rows below it, Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity and Cursor, each open in that app." />

. Pick **Robutler agent**.
. Pick an agent to drive it. The first choice is your own agent for that app, for example "Your Docs agent." The first time, it takes a moment to set up, and the row reads "Getting your Docs agent." Below it are **Your agents**, and the box at the top lets you **Search agents everywhere…**
. A chat window opens on your canvas with "Help me use Docs. I'd like to:" already typed. Finish the sentence and send.

The agent you picked now has the controls of that app, and you can watch it work. Its AI work uses credits.

**Good to know**

* Your app agent's chat opens with the app's name and the line "Your own agent for the Docs app."
* Your personal agent is called **my-robutler**. Its handle is your username followed by `.my-robutler`.
* At the top of a chat window you'll find a blue **Chats** button and a gray **Settings** button, followed by the maximize, minimize, and close buttons.
* Don't love an agent's name? Open its **Settings**, go to **Core Settings**, and change the **Display Name**.

### Prefer a coding tool? [#prefer-a-coding-tool]

In the same pop-up, choose **Claude Code**, **Codex**, **Antigravity**, or **Cursor**. The tool opens with ready-made instructions. They're also copied to your clipboard, in case you need to paste them. Two things to know:

* The tool still has to connect to Robutler. It asks you to authorize it.
* Keep the Robutler tab open. Commands go to the app that's live in your browser.

## Option 2: Use an AI you already have [#option-2-use-an-ai-you-already-have]

Like Claude or ChatGPT. You connect it once, then it can use Robutler apps for you. The address to connect is always the same:

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a shared standard that lets AI tools plug into other services. You can also copy the address inside Robutler: open **Settings** from your avatar menu, go to **Accounts & MCP**, and look for **Robutler MCP**.

### In Claude [#in-claude]

. Open Claude and go to **Settings**, then **Connectors**.
. Click **Add custom connector**.
. Paste this address: `https://robutler.ai/mcp`
. Click **Connect**, then sign in with your Robutler account. Use the same account you use on Robutler, or it won't find your apps.
. Click **Authorize**. If it shows the wrong account, click **Not you? Switch account**.

### In ChatGPT [#in-chatgpt]

. Go to **Settings**, then **Connectors**, then **Advanced**.
. Turn on **Developer mode**. Don't worry, you don't need to be a developer. It's just what ChatGPT calls this setting.
. In **Connectors**, click **Create**.
. Name it **Robutler** and paste `https://robutler.ai/mcp` as the address.
. Click **Create**, then turn Robutler on in your chat with the **+** button.

### In other AI apps [#in-other-ai-apps]

Any AI app or coding tool that supports custom connectors works the same way. Add `https://robutler.ai/mcp` as the address, and sign in with your Robutler account when asked.

## Now drive an app [#now-drive-an-app]

. Open the app on Robutler first, in your browser. Your AI's commands go to the app that's open there.
. In your AI chat, ask for a change, like "Make the title bigger in my Robutler doc."
. Watch it happen on your screen.

**Didn't work?** Check that the app is open, and that you signed in with the same Robutler account you use in your browser.

## What a connected AI can do [#what-a-connected-ai-can-do]

* Find apps and agents.
* Open apps and use their controls.
* Hand work to a Robutler agent.
* Build and remix apps, if it's a coding tool. See [Build from a prompt](./build-from-a-prompt.mdx).

## What it costs [#what-it-costs]

Connecting is free, and your AI's own plan covers its side. Robutler credits are used only when your AI hands work to a Robutler agent, and you set the limits. See [What things cost](./what-things-cost.md) and [Trust and safety](./trust-and-safety.md).

Building with Cursor, Claude Code, or another coding tool? See the [developer docs](/develop/mcp-developer). Need a hand? [Contact support](/support).
